By Funmi Daniels (Talk Time With Funmi).

Can Nollywoodgossip readers have the honor of knowing the real Funsho?

He is God fearing and a fun loving actor, but principled. I am a graduate with BA ED from the then Ondo state university. I hail from Ondo state, married with 2 boys and to the finest girl in the world. I’m an actor as you know, a director, an MC, and singer. I started my acting career in 1987 as a stage actor and later went into TV and home video.

Tell us of your journey into the industry?

I started with a small drama group in Festac called Monidex group started by Niyi Ojemakinde, a broadcaster now and was natured by Antar Laniyan and later by Tunji Bamishigbin.

Great hands indeed.

Yes o, that’s why I am a complete theatre person.

What were the challenges you faced at the early stage of your career?

My parents were in support then but got disinterested when I was meant to be making money and that was not happening and I made sure I stood by my dream and now we’re all happy. Apart from that, there hasn’t been any challenge that was not normal with growth or career discovery.

Tell us some of your movies.

Contractors, Camouflage, Silenced, Godfather, 419 connection, Iyan ogun odun, Ina esisi. Ojo na. Ale Ariwo, Agba Akin, Omo ni kara 150million, and many more.

What is the current situation of things in the industry?

Well now everybody is doing what I call going away from the rule and it’s not healthy for the industry. We don’t have a single body controlling the industry and it’s allowing for anybody to come in and get unethical which has ridiculed the industry a lot. Every dick and harry is now a director, producer, and marketer, with no control. My sister it’s really bad

As a seasoned practitioner, how do you suggest the industry curtail these excesses?

We need a single and serious body to control acting; series of schools are springing up headed by so called practitioners that still need to be trained. We have ANTp NANTAP AGN. A guild is seen as an association, very absurd. We need a revolution to re structure, if not it will get worse. It’s an intellectual arena not for anybody, by so doing we can have a voice and stop celebrating failure. I’m already on the move to save the industry. I have gone to Ife, Ibadan and Ilorin theatre departments to let them join me in the move to save their profession from collapsing, so they won’t waste 4 years and have nowhere to practice.

Are you alone in this campaign to save the industry?

I’m alone because by the time I invite people they will start thinking of how to make money. If anyone feels like I do he should start too. My face, name, and pedigree are enough to effect a change. People in the industry already are hardened but those fresh bloods will feel me more. It will be done without violence or any form of confrontation.

What do you do for relaxation when you’re not working?

I go out with my wife or stay home with my family and play with my boys. I like to watch movies and dance a lot.

What word would you leave with your fans?

They should keep on praying for me and I love them all with my whole heart. Without them I won’t be called d finest.

Nollywoodgossip wishes you the best.

My pleasure.

I guess its the latest trend now a days, people don't want to serve other people yet want people to serve them, even when they don't know enough to be a director yet they want to be a director not minding the damages or what will be the outcome of what they will produce. well all this I think is as a result of pride, ego. may God help us all.
