Barry Luke Che

  • Barry Luke Che is a Nollywood actor from Cameroon.
  • He is the owner of the famous Xstasy Nite Club, Asaba.
  • Not too long ago he opened another club in Awka called The Twitter Lounge.
  • Today Nollywoodgossip ran into him and used the opportunity to check what he’s been up to.

By Chinelo Onuzulike (News Time With Chinelo).

We learned that you opened a new club in Awka. Please tell our readers more about it.

Yeah, I did open a new club in Awka a few months back. It’s called Twitter Lounge, a name that I had always wanted to use for an entertainment outfit. Twitter Lounge happens to be one of the best clubs in the East structurally speaking and I did all I could to give it beauty and style, but Awka is a horrible place to do business in if you are not from Anambra State. The people are mean and very dangerous. Needless to talk much, everything I put in that club I consider a loss, because there is no business there.
The good news is…I am launching a new club in Asaba on Valentine’s Day. The name will be the METROPOLIS. It took me a few months to convince the owner of the place Prince Idabor, popularly known as Uz, owner of the prestigious Nelrose Hotel and Suites, a friend and brother to my uncle and mentor Chief Alex Adoghe, the owner of Noah’s Ark in Lekki, to agree that we jointly open the club. He is the Chairman and I am the managing partner. I am very excited about the venture because it’s at the heart of Asaba and on the most prestigious location in town — a place where only the cream de la cream of the Asaba metropolis will meet to relax.

We also heard that you are involved with a beauty pageant. Please tell us about it.

Yes that’s true. The beauty pageant is called Hotshots Queen of Hearts Beauty Pageant and it’s the first edition. It’s actually being hosted by Hotshots Magazine owned by a friend and business partner popularly Known as Mama B. The whole Idea of the pageant is to select an ambassador with beauty and brains to represent her NGO which is doing a great job now in the South-South helping motherless children and women. My online magazine,www.thenollywoodtourist.com, was chosen as a partner in the venture. And Nollywoodgossip will also become a partner because I heard Mama B talking about soliciting Nollywoodgossip to partner. It’s going to be a big event as models from all over the South-South of Nigeria will partake. There will be preliminary auditions in Port Harcourt, Warri, Abraka, Owerri, Awka, all over the East, and the finalists will be hosted in Asaba for a week before the main event itself. The winner will take home a brand new car, some cash money and ambassadorial status for the NGO. There will be other winners too.

How do you cope being an actor, owner of two night clubs and pageant organizer?

Ha ha ha…you forgot the most demanding of all…being a father of two with a huge family to take care of. Well, all I can say is that God works in mysterious ways. If your faith is alive and your conscience is clear and your brain is working, there will always be a way. One thing I have always tried to maintain is not to be someone else but me. So I will never be ashamed to sit on an Okada and go to a filling station and buy fuel if my car is bad. I am real street credible, no amount of money or fame can change me…I’m coping…ha ha ha…

Do you have any other thing to add?

Yes. First I want to say that by the Grace of God I will be relocating back to Lagos soon, where the real fire of entertainment is burning as I have prospects of partnering with my Mentor in floating a movie production company.

Talking about movies, I just finished shooting a big one with Majid Michel and Nkem Owoh titled
Shattered Mirror, produced by Sunny Collins of Great Movies and directed by Lancelot Imasuen himself. Doing movies is where my heart really is. I am getting tired of the Night Club biz. The cash is there but the sleepless nights are not too good for a married man with two kids ha ha …If I am getting too old to act, I will direct.

The only thing I will say to my friends out there is that hard work is painful when life is devoid of purpose, but when you live for something greater than yourself, for the joy of your people, then hard work becomes a labour of love, then you become a man of value not of success, a man despite the greedy demands of the society still holds a powerful grip of love on the people around him, a shining star, cool and quietly bringing light and smiles to the helpless in his way…..May God continue to guide you.

Nollywoodgossip wishes you the best.

Thanks for having me.
