The spread of Nollywood across the globe has been boosted with the establishment of an AGN in Spain. The establishment of the guild in Spain actually began during the national presidency of Segun Arinze. Since the election of Ibinabo Fiberesima as national president, the AGN, Spain has waxed stronger and is firmly established.
Under the Chairmanship of Comrade Lamptay Ikponmwosa Oriakhi, the AGN Spain has begun to fulfill a number of programs including the establishment of a web database for its members, organization of acting seminars for young and aspiring actors, embarking on different movie projects etc.
According to Comrade Oriakhi, a one-time national officer of AGN, the establishment of AGN Spain was driven by the recognition of the many Nigerian talents in Europe and the need to harness the talents for constructive use. He added that the idea was equally driven by the recognition of dynamic and original stories that have evolved from the Nigerian community in Europe over the years. In his opinion, the future of Nollywood in terms of stories is still very much within the African community in the diaspora.
AGN, Spain in association with Lamp Images Production is set to premiere its first Nollywood movie titled; THE PASTORS. The premiere which is planned across Europe is expected to start in Madrid in February 2013. While two other productions (PURE DE PATATA & SET TIME) are still “cooking,” THE PASTORS will no doubt be an effective launch pad for many aspiring Nollywood actors.
