What inspired you into acting?
Destiny and background. I was named after a great Hollywood actor, Yul Brynner. And I grew up seeing lots of Hollywood films. Then my father is an actor too. So I felt I had the talent, but knew it was also good to study the course. So I did.
If you had to think of a slogan that could leave a positive impact on everyone, what would that be?
Do to others what you would love them to do to you.
After all this time, what still excites you about new movies?
Doing another new movie always gives me the opportunity to express myself in a different way. Though it hurts to see that certain aspects of Nollywood seem not to be growing, I try my best as a professional to change a few things that I can.
How much creative control do you have over your own movies?
Not much though, because as an actor you are quite limited. You can only play your part well, make a few suggestions and that’s it. Nollywood is not yet as developed as Hollywood, so we still have a couple of people who have nothing to offer but are still here year in year out. So I read my scripts, research on how best to play my characters, bring some ideas on board and leave the rest to the directors and hope the jobs come out well at the end of the day.
