Please kindly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well, I’m Crystal King. I’m a singer and songwriter and I have been singing for like forever. I’m very passionate about my music, and always trying to deliver something fresh and new to the people who listen to my music. I don’t like to be restricted by any boundaries or genres, in general I just write and sing what I feel and hope people will get it.
Tell us briefly of your journey into music.
I really can’t pinpoint a particular point in time or a turning point when I said ‘yes I’m going to sing’. I was just always into music. My dad was a songwriter and played keyboard as a hobby, so in my younger years I got to be around that when I went to see him. Alongside that, I was told from a young age that I could really sing. The little girl with the big voice is what they used to call me – so I guess that was a confidence boost and from then on I always wanted to be a singer. And whenever and wherever I could be heard, I’d be on that stage.
What are you working on at the moment?
Well I’ve just completed my EP ‘The Complexity of Crystal King’, which is a nice introduction to me and where I’m going with my music. My song writing has matured and my music has a new edge to its direction – with an indie/soul feel to it and a lot of acoustic tones. I’m now moving into working on an album.
Would you like to perform in Nigeria?
Oh wow I would absolutely LOVE to perform in Nigeria! It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and have discussed many times with my peers. Many of my best friends are Nigerians and I love the culture and the people. It would be an amazing accomplishment to perform for such beautiful people and be heard by a Nigerian audience and see how they receive me.
Are you married?
No, I still haven’t found that special guy yet, so I focus on my career while keeping an eye out. Marriage is such an important part of life but you cannot rush these things it takes a special bond and connection. I do hope to have a long and healthy marriage one day like my grandparents have. It’s quite inspiring to know they’ve been together for so long and are still genuinely happy.
Anything else you want to add?
My EP The Complexity of Crystal King is dropping real soon, so look out for that. And I hope to come to Nigeria soon, so Watch This Space!
Nollywoodgossip wishes you the best.
Thanks for having me.
