Please kindly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Lady Fatima Jabbe. I am a Gambian born and brought up in Sierra Leone and the UK. I am the first Gambian actress to make it in to Nollywood.

Where are you based?

I am based in the UK.

Tell us a little about your growing up.

Growing up in Sierra Leone was fun before the war but during the war I had to leave and travel to the UK where I was able to finish my education. I studied Performing Art. I started modelling and won the Miss Afro Caribbean World in 2000. Since then I have been working on a lot of charitable projects including the launching of the John Utaka Foundation this year.

How did you get into acting?

I used to do plays on stage since I left college but my first Nollywood film is the world acclaimed Mirror Boy which I starred alongside Genevieve Nnaji and Osita Iheme and directed by Obi Emelonye. Myself and Obi are family friends so when I told him I want to start doing Nollywood movies he cast me for Mirror Boy and I am grateful because I have won best actress BEFFTA and best supporting actress ZAFAA in my first year in Nollywood.

If you weren’t an actor, what would you have been doing now?

I would have become a lawyer or a Journalist.

Tell us names of some of your movies.

Mirror boy, Shattered Hearts and Expedition Africa.

Which of your movies is the most challenging?

All my films are challenging because I always like to play characters that are not me. I like to play wild and bad girl and for people who know me will tell you they are shocked to see me play wild or bad person.

Have you ever been to Nigeria?

I have been to Nigeria many times. I attended the AMA awards in 2010, the premiere of Mirror Boy 2011, the Nollywood Movies Awards 2012 and unofficially I can say at list 10 times.

What are you working on at the moment?

Well I have been nominated for Best Lead Actress 2012 in ZAFAA for my role as Bukky in Shattered Hearts and the award ceremony will take place on the 19th October 2012. I want to wait till I know the outcome of that before I choose my next project. I am reading a few scripts at the moment.

Anything else you want to add?

It has been a pleasure working with all this wonderful Nigerians and Africans and I look forward to more.

Your message to your Nigerian fans.

I love all my fans, without them I am nobody and I want to thank them for their love and support. I enjoy my job because of them.
