After missing in action for a while, Nigerian musician Kelly Handsome is back to the music scene with a new song titled We Built America.

“I am a perfectionist so it’s either I do it well or I don’t do it at all,” he tells Delia Innoma (Live Online With Delia).

On what inspired the new track, Kelly says:

“The mixtape was inspired by the fact that we Africans built the America we know today as the world’s super power as slaves during the slave trade. So now that we are freemen, we can build Africa and make it the best place in the world, but that won’t work until we unite. I look forward to a USA, the United States Of Africa. Not just united as a government but one nation. To be seen as one by the world. That is the secret of America, different countries coming together to form one Nation”.

Speaking further he says:

“It’s a vision we cannot achieve by fighting and killing each other but by uniting as one. Why should a country whose senators earn much more than the United states’ President still be referred to as a third world country? Think about it, we need to rebrand and illuminate our minds.
