Tell us little about yourself.
My name is Happy A. Uchendu, from Azigbo, Nnewi local government, Anambra state. I’m married and a graduate of university of Jos. I read Microbiology.
Your Journey so far?
Mmm…my journey into the industry started in 2008, when I came to Abuja for my I.T. I met with a lady who happened to be one of the AGN officials Abuja chapter. She took me to an audition because acting has been my dream. After the audition, I got a role. That same year, the same lady got another job in Delta State and took me along with her. We traveled to Obialuku in Delta State. I got a sub lead role, and when I came back to Abuja, I went back to school. I got the contact of Chairman of AGN Jos chapter through Ernest Obi. I registered and became a full member of AGN. It’s been so rough, but I’m getting there. My journey in industry has been off and on and it’s not been easy at all.
Tell us about your current project.
I’m working on a movie project which title I won’t disclose now.
Brief us about the project.
It’s a glamour film. It has to do with Samarah, a mystery girl who reads people’s minds. She knows everything happening around her.
Are you acting in the film too?
Yes, I am.
Which character are you playing?
Stephanie, a smart sexy girl who is in love with Jeff (Artus) but he never loves her. In fact, he was in love with another girl Avelina (Ebube).
Who and who are in the film?
Ebube Nwagbo, Artus Frank, Emma Mensah, Tony Ezimmadu, Emmanuel France, Tonia Nwosu, Ayo Emmanuel, and many others. Director is Uzi Madubuogu and producer is me (Happy .A. Uchendu.)
Any challenges?
So much ooo….discovering that the budget you were given by your producer was false just two days to start shooting. Discovering just before you start filming that most of the things your producer said he has taken care of were not really paid for. Discovering that you’ve been lied to and have to pay double for everything, this is my biggest challenge.
Any difficulties with artists on set?
Well, my director has been so helpful and my artists have no stress at all. But my producer is nothing to write home about.
What are the good and bad aspects of acting?
Good aspect of it is that I enjoy what I do. I love acting since my secondary school days. I was in a drama club and I was the financial secretary. The bad aspect is that there is no pay after doing a job.
Sexiest part of your body?
Hmm…yeah I got it. My hips!
What do you think filmmakers should improve on?
Filmmakers should treat the upcoming artists right, and two, the technical aspect, though we are improving on that, making movies look so real is very important, because at times when you watch some films that have to do with night scene or sleep, you will see the artist with makeup on her face, which is so fake.
Anything else you want to add?
Nothing much to say, but keeping it cool and real, pays. Work hard and be focused, always pray and you will make it.
Words to your fans?
I love you all, my fans.
Nollywoodgossip wishes you the best.
Thanks Evia.
