Nigerian man shot dead by Malaysian Police in drug related incident

Nigerian man killed in Malaysia

Nigerian man killed in Malaysia

In Malaysia, a Nigerian man was arrested on suspicion of being a drug mule. The man was reported to have been tied down to a bed in the hospital as the police waited for him to excrete the drug capsules out.

According to news from Malaysia, the man somehow managed to free himself from being tied down (even though he was supposedly being monitored by a policeman) and was about to lunge at the policeman when he (the policeman) fired three shots in self-defense, instantly killing him.

Nollywoodgossip gathered that the incident occurred at 9.45pm yesterday at Ward 18 in Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

We still find it very suspicious that a man tied to a bed – which is inappropriate – and was being monitored by a policeman was able to free himself and lunge at the policeman.

We hope that the Nigerian Government would take up this case, because they can’t watch arms folded as Nigerian citizens are being murdered by crazy and cheap countries like Malaysia and the like.

Is it not Malaysians Lazy human beings? Were you Malaysians who were wretchedly poor and this Nigerian Government paid the Salaries of your workers? Malaysians: is not your country made rich because of Nigerian Government and our blessed LAND enriched your country with robber and palm nuts and other Agro-business? Malaysians and Government; was not Nigerian government supported your country when all the world and rich countries could not support your Country, is it not the Gaint of Africa who came for your rescue? Malaysian Government what is the pay back of Nigerian effort and love to you all when there were tears in your eyes? They should see beyond the colour black of the skin. I am sure if it was a white man they wouldn't have recklessly justified the killing as self defense. Its high time they realize this was also a human life lost to the precious family he had.God have mercy on this country and the mindset of its people towards Africans who are also boosting their economy by being here.

Abdul A. Abdul I chose to ignore you initially cos I felt you were already too biased to consider my opinion objectively. But if I must respond to ur comments, then I'll start by quoting this popular proverb "He that lives by the sword must die by the sword". My point is, once you've chosen to take the risk of carrying drugs in a country like Malaysia where the penalty is 'death by hanging', then you must be ready to bear the consequences that may follow. Of course, the Law says 'innocent until proven guilty'…but the same Law empowers the police to shoot in self-defense (clearly, in this case, the Malaysian police has used this to their advantage). I'm not in support of what the Malaysian police has done to this guy…maybe my comment was a little too straight-forward. But then, I thot by my comment I could stress the need for people (especially Nigerians) to abstain from activities that could potentially tarnish our public image. The consequences, like in this case, are often very dire.

A further note @Abdul A. Abdul….You talk about making unguarded utterances, yet your comment seems to be based on your personal opinion. The story explicitly states…"the man somehow managed to free himself from being tied down (even though he was supposedly being monitored by a policeman) and was about to lunge at the policeman when he (the policeman) fired three shots in self-defense, instantly killing him"…that means, the question of 'victimization' is completely based on your personal sentiments. So if you are as learned as you claim to be, then you should have, at least, tried to keep your argument in the context of the report.

Abdul A. Abdul You keep repeating the same statement "do u think nigerians or africans r d only drug peddlers here"…for a second, wouldn't it sound better to read "Nigerians or africans r d only non-peddlers of illegal drugs here". Forgive me for sounding so sick and tired of being embarrassed at European airports just because I carry a green passport. Not to sound condescending, but u would agree with me that there's a negative stereotype attached to the name "Nigeria" at the moment. So the Law of "innocent until proven guilty", in most cases, may not apply once you've got a green passport. There's no moral justification whatsoever for what the policeman did to this guy…however, what if the policeman's claim is indeed true? We can't keep making racial excuses just because we do not believe the alternative side of the story. Bottom-line, if the guy hadn't taken the risk of drug peddling in the first place, there'd have been no need for this discourse. Nonetheless, we're all entitled to our own opinions, so I'll rest my case here.

@Ife and Abdul A. Abdul…I completely understand what you guys are trying to say. Contrary to what you may think about me, I'm actually a bit of a racist in that all my friends are Blacks. I hardly associate with other races. Not that I'm proud of it, but that's just the way I am…so I'm equally passionate about my fellow Africans. I know I sounded too blunt by my comments, but honestly, I'm a bit too tired of the way we often behave abroad. Don't get me wrong, nobody is perfect, but there's an increased sense of desperation to make quick money among Nigerians; as such, we indulge all sorts of illegal stuff. In most cases, that could lead to the victimization of 'innocent' Nigerians as well. The hard truth is we as blacks are the most discriminated against in the world, but if we could look beyond the descrimination and try to get our shit together, then maybe we could change the trend. Other races already see us as criminals and thiefs, so if we continue to have reports of Nigerians involved in criminality, the prejudices will never end.

@Jason…to be honest (and this is just my opinion), I feel some of these countries, like Malaysia, have become a little bit too tired of condoning the excesses of Nigerians abroad. I don't think it's a case of race here cos the Malaysian police would hardly do same to a South African or Carribean national. If Nigerians abroad do not care about protecting their country's image, then we shouldn't complain about what we get in return.

@Kassim…what if the policeman's story is actually true? Have you considered that perspective at all? Or would it have sounded better if it was reported that a Nigerian drug peddler under arrest, lunged an attack on a policeman, ceased his gun and shot him three times in the head….common!!! I come from Nigeria and I've stayed in Malaysia for over four years, so I know exactly what Nigerians out there are capable of doing. I must state CLEARLY that I'm not in support of what the policeman did to this guy; however, people who have chosen to go illegal should be ready to bear the consequences.

Several "innocent" Nigerians have been victimized based on the negative stereotype attached to the name "Nigeria"…yet u dare ask me about image. What human life are we talking about here? If you are so compassionate about human lives, there's a famine currently going on in Somalia…or better still, fly down to Syria and help the innocent children who are being murdered everyday. My comments irks you because the truth hurts…well, deal with it. You are not nearly as compassionate as I am…so forgive me for being bold enough to be objective.

@ Chiddy-diddy Ogbonnaya…….i will say you are right in everything you say as one have to be realistic in all we say or do irrespective of been a Nigerian or not. But the fact still remains we've always known what this people think of us and they see all Nigerians as bad people. Maybe this very man was innocent of been a drug mule just trying to frame him. Maybe killing this man was a mistake to the policeman and just trying to come up with coverup story cause its never impossible for a trained police man to shot a suspect (3 times) all in the name of SELF DEFENSE!!!. I think for a self defense, 1 shot is enough maybe on the hand or leg……WHY IN A MORE DELICATE AREA?

Brother please think about this as well!!!

I have fought all my life; I fight now, and will do so until the end of my days. Even although I now happen to be tried by one, whose opinion I hold in high esteem, I detest most violently the set-up that surrounds me here. It makes me feel that I am a Black man in a White man's court. This should not be I should feel perfectly at ease and at home with the assurance that we are all men , arise arise arise and fight ohhh black men , we can not be killed and slaughter like chicken in a country that are where they are today with our Palm tree an oil.

Well, I don't believe this cock&bull story. They should say exactly the truth what happened. They commit so many atrocities here and their press will just cover up the news. But once its a foreigner they will publish it everywhere. Imagine how they have been embarrassing people since November. In fact I don't blame them I blame the so called embassy we have here. What they are after from top person there to the least is only money and women.

In fact, can Malaysian police shot an America citizen? Please I advice that if our embassy cannot fight out this case to the end, the embassy should close down. So that every Nigerians should vacant their land. How long can we continue looking our people been killed like a chicken? No matter the offense he ought to be trial first before judgement. Many innocent Nigerians are in prison….. why this racist? In fact, i will wait and see how this case is be handle. Justice should prevail.
